petition to ban the question - “what do you do” at any gathering over 4 people

Asked why, the next morning:

ok, two reasons why i think this is a non-ideal question -
a) you will invariably get the most 'canned' response from someone bc they've probably been asked this hundreds of times, so you're optimizing for low interesting-ness / answer-on-autopilot x.com/…

b) large events create community brownian motion where new edges can be created b/w nodes, with the ideal outcome being meaningful new relationships. but this can only really happen if both - real conversations happen + interuption rate is high. 'what do you do' breaks this
