Fabrications
When human beings first walked on Earth,
They only needed food and a warm hearth,
Hunting prey on the prodigious plain,
Their life was simple and sane.
Now, we in this ultra modern age,
Consider ourselves way ahead of that history page,
We travel fast, communicate faster,
Believing that we are every ones master.
We created a world with intricate complexities,
Yet losing so many sublime subtleties,
Binding ourselves by unwritten conventions,
A slave to our myriad inventions.
Divided by what falsehood we believe in,
What action we condemn is a sin,
By what language we speak, food we eat,
Forgetting we all have a heart that beats.
Preaching a lot, practicing much less,
Making this world into a bigger mess;
Killing over coins, fighting over lies,
Not comprehending that all this is futile.
The oddest thing about this I mull,
Is we spend a quarter of our life at school,
Learning about this world we created,
The different meanings of life we fabricated.
